The Lion of this story has been inspired by the Lion of Denfert-Rochereau Square in Paris. It is a statue erected by architect Bartholdi between 1876-80. I have asked myself why this Lion is so Loved by Parisians, and I think it is because he seems so sure and really happy to be where he is.
