The National Centre for Children's Literature was established in 1993 by the National Book Trust, India an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Human Resource Development as a nodal agency to monitor, coordinate, plan, promote and aid the publication of children's literature in various Indian languages. Besides developing a Library-cum-Documentation Center of children's literature, the Center is engaged in organizing orientations, workshops and exhibitions and the promotion of reading habit at the school level by encouraging the setting up of readers clubs.
